Summer camps with Safari Kid

TK – 2nd Grade

Transitional Kindergarten through second-grade campers will celebrate summer through a series of themes. Each theme is designed to engage young minds in learning, creativity, and fun.

=

Week 1: Jedi Knight Training

Every Padawan must train under a Jedi Master in order to conquer tests called ‘The Jedi Trials’ before becoming knighted a Jedi. The Jedi Trials consist of five different tests: the Trial of Skill, Trial of Courage, Trial of Flesh, the Trial of the Spirit, and the Trial of Insight. For example, the Trial of Skill expects Padawans to display learned lightsaber techniques and incredible self-discipline, while the Trial of Insight ensures that Padawans are ready to face the real world, distinguishing truth from lies, solving puzzles, and demonstrating their insight and intelligence. Padawans, be ready, and may the force be with you!

=

Week 2: Dino Days

Dino Days are the best days of the summer, because the dinosaurs come to life! Our prehistoric friends are just waiting to be unearthed, so be sure to join in on the fun. We will get into paleontologist gear and dig for “fossils”, get our groove3 on with Jurassic Jives and Dinosaur Stomps, excavate info on the various dino species and design their dino eggs, and so much more! Don’t miss out on this roaring good time!

=

Week 3: Oozy Potions & Gloop

Enjoy brewing up concoctions that fizz, change color, and even explode! Inspired by “Potions” at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the boarding school for magical children which the famous Harry Potter attended, this is the class all “muggle” children wish they had (minus Professor Snape). Now is your chance! Don’t miss out on all the messy science-based fun!

=

Week 4: Olympic Fever!

This July the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France begins! Our prelude to the excitement includes a brief “warm-up” session each day of some fun facts that will help us get an overall understanding of the history and evolution of the Olympic games, and great Olympians of the past. Then, let the games begin! Olympic-inspired competitions of our own will commence and will have you cheering the Olympic motto, “Citius, Altius, Fortius – Communiter,” or in English, “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together!”

=

Week 5: Junior Architects

Calling all budding architects! Develop your artistic, spatial, and engineering skills through intriguing design challenges. Complete projects in collaboration with your peers using simple materials to explore the world of structural design. Add your artistic flare to the finished products to complete your masterpieces as you enjoy getting them ready to present to your peers.

=

Week 6: Kiddo Comic-Con

Let’s have some fun! Come to camp dressed as your favorite character and enter a world of limitless imagination! While in character you will find the inspiration to design art, create comic book stories (pictures only is fine!), and participate in fun activities with other “characters” which will have you never wanting to re-enter reality!

=

Week 7: Eco Explorers

It’s summer, so no better time to enjoy the fresh air and all of nature’s beauty! We’ll have our nets and magnifying glasses ready as we search for insects and plants that we might otherwise have missed. We’ll learn why wearing sunscreen is so important, in a very hands-on way. We’ll experiment with building a nest and test our talents with creating art out of the loose parts in nature. But most importantly, mud will become a medium which momma can’t tell us to put down! It’s okay to get dirty in this one!

=

Week 8: Messy Li'l Monkeys

All things art, slime, sand, and mud. Explore, create, and discover your way through this week in the most fun way possible. We’ll nurture the budding Picasso in you and let you explore various art media. Come in Clothes that can get dirty, because this week is all HANDS ON!

=

Week 9: Safety Superheroes

Learn survival skills which could save your life or at least just put you more at ease in a tricky situation. If you came across a coyote, is it a good idea to run? If you fall and scratch up your knee and cut open your pants, how will you mend yourself? …and your pants?! If you were in a shopping area and got separated from your parents, where would you go or who should you tell? If you were lost in the woods, do you know how to leave signs of where you are headed for other people to find as you try to find safety? Can you make a sunlight signal with a mirror? You might never have to use these skills, but having this knowledge is like having a personal lifeguard at your service at all times –it can’t hurt!

=

Week 10: Time Travelers

Transport to a different place in time with your friends by dabbling in the arts, clothing, and fun activities of that era. We will explore Medieval Times, the Wild Wild West, and the Golden Age of Piracy! So get ready to learn how to joust, pan for gold, and have an ARRRRGuably good time finding that stolen treasure as we travel through the ages on a quest for adventure!
